How to make Peppa Pig Biscuits without a cookie cutter!

Making cookies for a Peppa Pig party what could be simpler. Well it’s not as simple as you may think due to a lack of Peppa Pig shaped cookie cutters on the market. I thought I would make it a little easier for you by doing a step by step guide to making cookies for a Peppa Pig party, even without a cookie cutter!
First we make the basic biscuit recipe and while it’s chilling in the fridge we can make a template to cut around. Lastly we decorate the biscuits and enjoy!
Basic Biscuit Recipe
90g butter
100g golden caster sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
200g plain white flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
How to Make Them
1.Sieve the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
2.In another large bowl cream the butter and sugar together, then beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
3.Then add the flour mixture to the bowl and mix until combined.
4. Form into a dough, wrap in cling film and chill in the fridge for at least an hour.
Make the Template
I cut out a picture from a Peppa Pig colouring pages website (make sure Peppa is the right size for a biscuit!) and then drew round it leaving a gap of about 1/2cm. You don’t need to go around the individual ears or legs as these will be differentiated with the icing sugar.

5.Heat the oven to 170C or 150C (fan assisted ovens), gas mark 3.
6.Roll out the dough to a thickness of half a centimeter.
7.Cut out the biscuit shapes.
8.Bake for 8 – 12 minutes or until golden.
9. Cool thoroughly on a wire rack.
10.Decorate
Decorating
I tried a couple of ways to decorate the biscuits. I finally plumped for the use of fondant icing. You can colour this yourself or buy the pre-coloured variety.
I used the original picture of Peppa to cut around but cut out the head and body separately. I then used coloured icing in an icing piper to go around the edges, before adding the arms and legs.
I have to admit, it is a little fiddly with varied results for the different biscuits. Just make sure you have plenty of time and a bit of patience before you embark on your biscuit making activity. My kids thought they were yummy which is all that counts really!
As an added treat at your Peppa Pig Party or if you don’t have time to make the biscuits, BoxedUpParty have chocolate pig pop lollies that are absolutely delicious as well as some great Peppa Pig party supplies. Why not take a look today.
Oh, and by the way, have a great party!
